RIP, Batfleck. So, Who's Next?

RIP, Batfleck. So, Who's Next?

To the most homicidal iteration of Batman we’ve ever seen…we bid you farewell. As we say goodbye to Ben Affleck, our cleft chin crusader, we ask the one question on everyone’s mind: So, who’s next? Who can or should step into the cape and cowl and be the next Batman?

We also step into another dimension, where time stops and TV shows no longer get rebooted. The Beta Boys react to Jordan Peele’s upcoming reboot of the horror/sci-fi classic The Twilight Zone. There’s also a report about LOST getting the reboot treatment. But, do we need it though? We take a look at the upcoming reboots and we also offer up some of our suggestions for some reboots that we’d love to see. All that and so much more, on this week’s episode of The Beta Report.

Late to The Party: Movies We May Have Missed, But You Shouldn't!

Like with most things, it wouldn't really be The Beta Report if we weren't fashionably late...TO EVERYTHING! It's kind of our calling card. And though, timing is a factor for a movie's current relevance and impact, a great movie can always be judged by its timelessness and transcendent qualities. So, we've tirelessly scoured the pantheon of great movies that may have passed us by and compiled a few interesting choices of movies and TV shows that we missed on their initial release, but we highly suggest you watch. We're just a little late to the party, but the party never really gets started until we arrive. #TheBetaReportEffect #ItsReal

Also, we got a brand new PICK OF THE WEEK that is neither tame nor ordinary in any way.

Black Lightning & Pun Man Save the Day

When you're struck with a jolt of fear and the thunderous charge of danger is shockingly near. Worry not, as the electrifying duo of Black Lightning and Pun Man are here to light your darkest nights! Okay, that is about as punny as I can get without throwing up. But, this is our show in a nutshell. We review the CW's brand new super hero show Black Lightning's first episode. Are the characters compelling? Is the villain a real threat? Is this show Beta Approved? You'll have to listen to find out.

And, as the CW universe of DC characters continues to expand, we discuss what movie or TV universe we'd most like to live in. Would Uno like to live in the MCU to assume his secret super hero identity: Pun Man? Would the Kon want to meet the alternate Khan in the Star Trek Universe? Am I going to Never-land so that I can really be Forever Five?!? You'll just have to listen to find out.

We also decided to extend last week's SECRET WORD CHALLENGE for one more week! We also have a new SECRET WORD CHALLENGE for this week that would effect our blog. Plus, as always, we have a new...no, we have THREE PICKS OF THE WEEK for you to check out. All that and many many more puns, and so much more, on this week's episode of The Beta Report.

TV Time: 2018 Preview

The box. Telly. Small screen. The tube. The boob-tube. TV. Television. We all have one. Or two, or three. We even carry one in our pocket now! The way we consume TV shows today, has changed dramatically in the last couple of years. With streaming services, cable channel apps, and video-sharing websites all providing access to what we could only get at a certain time in one particular place, has now opened up a world of opportunities to mind-numbingly binge every TV show that is out there. But, with all those possibilities now available to us, it might be hard to figure out what to watch, when to watch, and where to watch some of the new and returning shows in 2018. That’s where we come in. The Beta Report has done all your homework for you. They don’t call one of us the King of The Nerds for nothing. In today’s episode, we highlight some of the best brand new shows coming out this year and we also look at some of our favorite returning shows like Jessica Jones, The Handmaid’s Tale and Atlanta.

We also have a new PICK OF THE WEEK and a challenge for all of our listeners…Listen in to see what that might be and what that might mean for Uno, Kon, and Jay. We got all that and so much more on this week’s episode of The Beta Report.

2017: In Review

Happy New Year everyone! We hope you had a fun and safe holiday season with friends and family. Now, its our turn to celebrate with you as we look forward to kicking off the new year with a brand new show! But, before we dive head first into the new year, we want to look back at what 2017 had to offer.

Last year was such a great year in entertainment. From Logan to Wonder Woman, COCO to Get Out, Mindhunter to The Punisher, we had one of, if not, THE BEST year for movies and TV shows EVER. While some of you might consider that a bit of an exaggeration, its hard to deny that 2017 was, at the very least, one of the greatest years for comic book movies and TV shows we've ever had! Just look at this list: Wonder Woman, Logan, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel's The Punisher on Netflix, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, The Gifted, Thor: Ragnarok, Legion, Justice League, etc. And that's just the comic book related stuff. The list can go on and on if we consider the other greats (cough cough...STAR WARS, Stranger Things: Season 2, IT...cough cough).

So, click the link below to hear what we loved, hated, and regretted not seeing in 2017. We also give a brief look at what we're most excited for this new year, our PICK OF THE WEEK, and Uno's brand new impression (WAKANDA FOREVER). All that, plus so much more, on this week's episode of The Beta Report.

(Not So) Mini Episode

Jay is visiting family out of state, but that won't stop him from sitting alone, in a car, on a dark street, in a dusky small town in New Mexico fearing alien probes, blue meth dealers or Pennywise to provide you with the most entertaining nonsense you can imagine. You can always count on The Beta Bros to waste your time no matter which state we are in. You can also count on TBR to do a mini-episode, but still make it an hour long show!

This week, we discuss the return of JJ Abrams to the Star Wars Universe as its being reported that he has now been hired to write and direct Episode IX after Colin Trevorrow's firing. We also talk Narcos: Season 3, Little Evil, and Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water, which we unfortunately missed in our last episode "Fall Preview (Movies)".

We also have a very different PICK OF THE WEEK for you and so much more on this week's episode of The Beta Report.

The Beta Bros: Duel vs. Dual

It's episode 77! This week, The Beta Bros take over the show, sans Cat and Gabasonic. On this week's episode we look at all of the new X-Men franchise news that has recently been announced. Get our thoughts on the new The Gifted trailer, recent casting news for the New Mutants movie, and Josh Brolin's big head and little arms debate. We also give you our preview of Alien: Covenant and Michael Fassbender's (!!!!) DUAL (!!!!) roles. Lastly, we continue to gush over Aziz Ansari's Master of None, as it returns for Season 2. We honestly cannot say enough about its approach to comedy and its moving narratives and story-telling. Ansari has definitely tapped into something that is simultaneously poignant and hilarious. If you enjoyed Season 1 of this show, you'll definitely love Season 2. We've got all this and so much more on this week's episode of The Beta Report.
