DC Talk: Swamp Thing Sinks While Battinson Soars

DC for all its rich lore, storied history, and decades of comic book triumphs, is still trying to find its way out of Marvel Studio’s shadow. But, with the recent success of movies like Shazam! and Aquaman and the criminally underrated DC Universe slate of shows including Doom Patrol, DC is finally starting to dig itself out of the murky stinking bog of mediocrity and public appeal. Couple that with all of the upcoming DC projects headed our way like: James Gunn’s Suicide Squad, Joaquin Phoenix’s The Joker, and the Robert Pattinson led Batman movie, I think it was time for TBR to break out The DC Talk! The Beta Report Effect Strikes Again!

It might be coincidental, or clearly scientific, and perhaps a bit mystical, regardless of how you’d like to classify it, one thing remains true: THE BETA REPORT EFFECT IS REAL! They've often joked about the power of the TBR Effect, but now even we are beginning to believe it. The Beta Bros react to the astonishing ways The Effect has worked its entertainment magic in so many ways this week. From the sudden swell of Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker images and videos flooding our streams, to The House with a Clock in its Walls hitting the top spot on the TOP 5, we’ve developed the Midas Touch and we’d like to share the wealth.

Joaquin Phoenix, The Next Great Joker?

A psychopath, a sadist with a twisted sense of humor, the antithesis of sanity…is this describing The Joker or Joaquin Phoenix? Well now, its actually both. We just got our first glimpse of Phoenix as “Arthur” or the man who one day becomes The Clown Prince of Crime for the upcoming Joker origin movie. The Beta Boy’s react to his casting and where we think Phoenix ranks among all of the other actors who have portrayed “The Man Who Laughs” before him.

We also have a brand new Go No Go featuring an Eli Roth movie meant for the entire family. The man who made Hostel just made a family film? That is truly terrifying. 2017: In Review

Happy New Year everyone! We hope you had a fun and safe holiday season with friends and family. Now, its our turn to celebrate with you as we look forward to kicking off the new year with a brand new show! But, before we dive head first into the new year, we want to look back at what 2017 had to offer.

Last year was such a great year in entertainment. From Logan to Wonder Woman, COCO to Get Out, Mindhunter to The Punisher, we had one of, if not, THE BEST year for movies and TV shows EVER. While some of you might consider that a bit of an exaggeration, its hard to deny that 2017 was, at the very least, one of the greatest years for comic book movies and TV shows we've ever had! Just look at this list: Wonder Woman, Logan, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel's The Punisher on Netflix, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, The Gifted, Thor: Ragnarok, Legion, Justice League, etc. And that's just the comic book related stuff. The list can go on and on if we consider the other greats (cough cough...STAR WARS, Stranger Things: Season 2, IT...cough cough).

Tofurky Talk & Leftover Thoughts

What’s thanksgiving without a few leftovers? And what’s a post-thanksgiving episode without some tofurkey talk and a little more Justice League thoughts? This week, we revisit last week’s Justice League discussion and touch on a few things that we didn’t have a chance to get to. Namely, the appearance of Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, his stand-alone movie, The Legion of Doom, and the DCEU’s future. We also had to talk about Kevin Feige’s most recent comments about Avengers 4, and the most certain end of the current Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. Who will we see in the next phase? Which of our beloved heroes will make it out alive or simply fade away?

Its Episode 75! Through the course of this show's run, we've been fortunate enough to interview an amazing group of talented and insightful people. From producers, toy designers, make-up and hip-hop artists, to an actual Judge/Lawyer, a concha enthusiast and old childhood friends. Its always been our goal to book eclectic and entertaining guests who not only share our love for movies and comics, but who can also teach us a little something along the way. This week, we had the opportunity to interview not only an old friend, but also a film director whose burgeoning voice in the industry will soon make him stand along side the great film makers reigning today. Aside from that, he is also currently involved in the TV/Film industry as a crucial component that breathes life to some of our favorite shows currently running, like: Designated Survivor, Marvel's: Agents of Shield, and Son of Zorn.
